More Pink?

We pulled the carpet out of our bedroom last week and discovered that the baseboards had once been painted the same color pink as the bathroom. I think the previous owners had a thing for pink…and blue as all of the carpet upstairs is blue.

I’m loving the wood floors!
While we were doing that, Jackson played dress up in the lovely floral curtains that came with the house. I’ve been trying to pawn them off on my sister in law, Leah, but for some reason she doesn’t seem interested. I have no idea why.
Our cabinets were too low for the new fridge, so Seth adjusted them a little.
Note the blue wallpaper and the sheep on the wall. There are two wallpaper designs on the opposite wall with the sheep border separating them. Those suckers are on good too. Believe me, I’m working on removing that hideousness from my happy place.
Speaking of my happy place – here it is!
I’m trying to talk Seth into replacing that horrendous microwave with a white hood, but I think it’s pretty low on his list of priorities right now.
Before you leave, here’s a picture of my throne.
Oh yes, those dragonflies are appliqued. Nothing but the best for me!

Pretty in Pink

We (Seth, his sister Erin, and I) bought a house together a couple of weeks ago. You heard me. We broke the cardinal rule of families and bought a house, of all things, with a family member. Anyone who knows me well understands how violently opposed I am to these sort of things, but so far we all get along famously. Erin lives in the basement and we live on the main floor and everyone’s happy. I throw my dirty clothes down the laundry chute and Erin washes them for me and delivers them upstairs. What do I have to complain about?

Oh yeah. I guess I could complain about the bathroom. Overall, it’s a nice bathroom. Big. A window. Large tub. New shower. Tons of storage. So much storage that I can’t fill all of the space.

So what’s the problem?

It’s pink.

Pink tub, pink toilet, pink sink, pink wall tile.

The only think that’s not pink is the counter top which is white with blue stars.

Did I mention the house was built in 1961?

Oh, and the toilet seat is covered in appliqued dragonflies.

With our two boys and my aversion to the color pink this is the last color scheme in the world that we would pick. My Midwestern sensibility will not let me rip out the entire bathroom though because it is in such great shape. So, I will learn to live with the color and just enjoy the retro vibe the hanging lamps give off. After all, they do make my skin look good.
Next up? The kitchen.
Think: blue and white checks with a lamb border.
Oh well, the truck with my new oven just arrived, so I’m happy.
