Birthday Surprise!

I had a birthday a few weeks ago and started the weekend off right by meeting a good friend for a trail run. We couldn’t have asked for a better morning; it was beautiful, the sun was shining and she’s always fun to hang out with!

A grocery store visit later in the day means sushi samples for Tucker. That kid loves his sushi.

The next day, Seth’s parents watched the boys and we drove to Denver for the red-skin potato pizza at Mellow Mushroom. I literally dream about this pizza. It’s that good.

On the way home, he suggested that we stop in Thornton for drinks and dessert. It didn’t really seem like a Seth thing to suggest but I went with it and not long after we sat down, someone tapped me on the shoulder and it was both of my sisters!   They both live in Minnesota and, until last summer/fall, I had gone years without seeing them. They had been scheming with Seth and my dad for months to surprise me. I was just a little bit excited.

Seth had insisted that I take the day of my birthday off from work and I’m so happy that I agreed! I got to spend the entire day with my sisters. After my regular run with the Rugster, the girls and I drove to a nearby trail and completed the final day of the 3rd week on Tina’s couch to 5k plan. I’ve already made grand plans to run a relay with them next summer, so I am beyond excited that they are taking their training seriously and getting started over a year ahead of time – Ha!

P.S. If you’re looking for an orthodontist, don’t go to Dr. Harvey in Fargo. My teeth aren’t as jacked up as they used to be, but they are definitely not straight and I still have a giant gap between my two front teeth. #ifyourpermanentretainerfallsoffafter2monthsitsnothisproblem #itshisworldwejustliveinit #noimnotbitteratall #firstworldproblems.

Okay, enough of that.

We set the timer on my phone and ran back and forth in front of it to make sure that we commemorated our running together. This was pretty much the only shot where we weren’t laughing hysterically or crouched over looking to see if the picture had been taken yet. We’re cool that way.

After running, we picked the boys up from my mother-in-law’s and went to breakfast.

Followed by some shopping.

I was so sad to leave for work the next morning but I think my sisters were excited for a chance to sleep in without interuption before heading back to their families.

So far, this is quite possibly the best birthday on record.

And, my boss brought donuts to work for my birthday. I had to eat two, of course. You know, because of all the marathon training….
