This summer absolutely flew by. I find it hard to believe that all three of my boys are already back in school!
It’s taken us a while to settle in and get completely unpacked and organized. However, one thing that I’ve learned from all of our moves is that our homes are never quite organized how we want them until right before we decide to move so I’m a little more relaxed about it this time and trying to focus on enjoying life and the kids while they are little. I’ll have all the time in the world to organize once they’re grown and gone.
Speaking of the kids, here’s an adorable little picture of them sharing some root beer at Culver’s.
I’m sure they’ll thank me for taking that one when they’re older…..
Between moving and unpacking we were only able to go camping a couple of times, but were able to also go on some day trips. I almost like those better because even though we don’t get as far into the mountains, we get to pack less and sleep in our own bed at night.
Ruger gets too carsick to go along on our day trips, but he loves when we camp because he gets to show off his amazing trail running form.
The boys have suddenly decided that they love to be photographed, but only when they choose a pose and instruct me to take a picture.
I think Jackson’s staged smiles are the best.
He looks like he’s in pain or trying to take a dump, but in reality, he’s smiling his little heart out.
More staged photos.
I’m a slave to their whims.
I’m still running, just not posting about it because I’m super lazy and most evenings at home are spent trying to throw supper together, get lunches ready for the next day and repeatedly put the boys back in bed until they finally fall asleep…….or Seth and I fall asleep. They’re bedtime is 8, so maybe they are old enough to have a later beditme, but mine was 7:30 until I was 12 and Seth never had one so we have no point of reference for what a normal bedtime should be…….
When we were first married, I couldn’t believe how late Seth stayed up. I was used to being in bed around 9 every night and he would stay up until at least midnight or 1 in the morning. I adjusted, but reluctantly, so now that he leaves for work at 5:30 in the morning he goes to bed much earlier. It’s nice to finally be back to an early bedtime after so long!
Jackson got to spend the night at Papa and Nene’s a couple of weeks ago so Seth and I got to spend some quality time with Tucker. They both came along for the last part of my long run once Ruger was tired of running with me. Tucker insisted on wearing my camelback which was awesome because I didn’t have to carry it but got to have a little sip whenever I was thirsty.
This kid is a machine.
He made it 8 miles on his tiny little bike before suddenly stopping and insisting that he was to tired to go any further. We sent Seth back to the house to get the pickup while Tucker laid under a tree, had some snacks and water and I ran back and forth on the sidewalk in front of him like a freak just to get my last couple miles in.
This weekend, I got my long run in early, the boys and I went to my dear friend Liesl’s wedding and Seth was absent because, after 3 years of trying, he finally got a mule deer tag in the area that he wanted to be in.
From the looks of the picture he sent me last night, I think he was successful!
