Scrapbooking Excursion: DunDunDun…

I bit the bullet and went to Hobby Lobby today. Actually, it wasn’t that bad. They were having a 50% off sale on all of the scrapbooking supplies, so I got new books for both boys (coordinating!) and a thick stack of colored paper. I also picked up a corner rounder thing since I don’t have mine anymore (see previous post). At least I think I don’t have mine anymore…

Maybe I still have it…

Anyway, things went pretty well for the first 20 minutes. Then, I was feeling so proud of myself for making such an effort to put some thought into this whole scrapbook thing that I stopped to look at the prepackaged pages. You know, the ones that come with stickers and different sizes of paper and even card stock.

The card stock did it.

I suddenly thought, “Oh no! I don’t have any card stock! Do I need it? It would add some dimension to each page. I could do all sorts of interesting things with it but, I don’t have a lot of money and I have already spent most of it on the books and paper. Will anyone notice if I don’t use it? What if the scrapbooks look awful because I didn’t use card stock? All of the good mothers who scrapbook and document every moment of their children’s lives will look on me with disdain for not using coordinating card stock to add dimension to my children’s scrapbooks. I’m not even really sure what to do with it anyway. If I don’t use card stock, I might as well not even bother with the scrapbooks.”

And with that I was suddenly overcome with the horrible, nauseous feeling that I usually get when it comes to anything creative. Thankfully, at that same moment, Seth walked up with Jackson and said, “Let’s go”. Yay!!!! I ran for the checkouts like a bat out of hell! I am now safely home with my new scrapbooks and I am almost done picking out the pictures that I am going to print for them.

Now if I can just bring myself to use that stupid corner cutter thing…
