Change; It Is A Comin’!

Seth’s parents came last weekend to help us celebrate Jackson’s 6th (gasp) birthday on Saturday as I’m in Chattanooga this week for work and am missing the actual birthday (today). Seth and his dad have a couple of little projects planned while I’m away.
One of them involves some light demolition.
When I get back, this wall will be a goner! It will be open all the way to the china cabinet. Basically, just a widened version of the existing doorway.

I am so looking forward to the open feeling this will make for our home.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is being able to see the two yards across the street from inside the kitchen.

Look Who Lost His First Tooth!

My precious little Jackie lost his first tooth in late January. In a completely natural way – which is why there is a smile on his face – unlike his younger brother who pulled his own tooth out, root and all, after knocking it loose via a face plant last summer onto our driveway from the top porch step.
We were out for a Saturday morning drive and stopped at Starbucks for some breakfast sandwiches for the boys and coffee for us. After insisting that they did not want the sandwiches; screaming, crying, kicking the seats, and carrying on as they do, the boys suddenly changed their minds and insisted on scarfing the sandwiches down as fast as they possibly could.
Both boys were in the middle of declaring how much they loved their sandwiches and how they wanted to have one every day forever, when Jackson began shrieking that he lost his tooth! He was so excited.
His other front tooth on the bottom is now loose and he has been insisting that we need to go buy him another sandwich from Starbucks so that it will fall out.
I love his logic.
