Jackson’s Birthday Party

Jackson turned 3 on Friday, so we celebrated by having some friends and family over for spaghetti and cake.
Here’s Jack with his BFF G.
Tucker was busy working his charms on Grandma Lillyand R. was busy keeping an eye on the stove

Jackson was only interested in opening his first present which was a Thomas laptop from Tim, Leah, and their girls. He wasn’t interested in opening any more after that, so G. and I took over the task of opening them for him 🙂

My favorite gift was the Cat Ballou DVD. Jackson happens to like that movie as much as I do. Maybe someday he’ll be able to recite every line and sing every song too. I can only hope.

The only thing that could distract Jackson from the Thomas laptop was the Wii gun. Unfortunately, the game didn’t work well and the gun was really hard to use, so we returned it and got another game and a smaller gun instead.

And finally, here’s Jackson checking out hisSpongeBob cake. We put a candle on it, but every time we lit it he blew it out before we could take a picture.

I can’t believe that he’s already 3! People weren’t joking when they told me that kids grow up fast!

New Hair

Okay, here’s what my hair used to look like. Long and dark. I cut it short right before I had Tucker and wished that I hadn’t because the girl who cut it did a world record horrible job (Missy, the girl I used to go to, was on maternity leave). I went back to have her fix it and it still looked bad plus she charged me again! Ever since then I have been trying to grow it out, but every time I go in to get it trimmed I come out with hair that is about 3 inches long. Missy always did a really good job when I had long hair, but I think she only knows one short style and it doesn’t look good on me. I finally quit getting my hair cut because I like Missy so much and I didn’t want to hurt her feelings by going to someone else. Lame, I know. I finally had it cut in January when I was out of town and had Seth along to watch the boys. The baby in both of these pictures is Jackson. It is so hard to remember him being that small!
Look! My hair used to be curly. Until I had Tucker. Then, I’m not sure what happened, but now it’s stuck between wavy and straight. Mostly straight.
I went over my hair with an ash blond color yesterday morning and completely forgot to take a picture of the light bulb hue. Darn.
I also looked through my old pictures and could not for the life of me find one when I had the blond strip under my hair. If I can figure out how to get my scanner to work I’ll scan one that I have framed. Maybe. No promises here.Anyway, here is my new hair after I used the ash blond color. My hair hasn’t been this color since I was 4 years old.
How did you like that pose? I think I might start posing for all of my pictures that way.

Propping myself up on the counter must be some unconscious way of showing how weird I feel about taking pictures of myself. I did feel weird. I absolutely hate pictures of myself. I think it stems from thinking that I look a certain way and then looking in the mirror and being surprised. Not that I am expecting to see some one really hot – I have just always thought that I look a certain way and then I don’t.

I put the camera on top of the fridge for this one and it worked out quite nicely. This picture showed up when I was looking through my old ones and I thought I would show you what our oven and microwave used to look like. And what I looked like 8 months pregnant with Jackson.
The microwave never worked, but the stove was awesome! The only bad thing was that the front would get really hot and Jackson nearly burned his hand on it when he was little.

So there you have it! I like the blond but I think it would look better if I were tan and not the same color as my hair. I’ll probably grow it out and go back to the dark, though. I just like dark hair better.
