We went fishing near Walden several weeks ago and had a great time. Tucker and I made a trip to the outhouse and he raced me back. How is someone so small so fast?
Not only is Tucker super fast, he has also turned into a pretty great little fisherman.
Jackson fell asleep on the drive to the lake and ended up sleeping the entire timer that we were there.
Seth caught the biggest brown trout that I’ve ever seen up close.
Aaaaand, here it is a little closer. The flesh in all the trout that we caught was pink; apparently, the fresh water shrimp that the fish eat causes it.
Little Peemy was such a trooper and waited so patiently for Seth to get a line ready for him.
He sat by his fishing rod waiting patiently for a bite. I don’t know how he can sit still for so long waiting.
Before long, we were pulling fish in one after the other.
At one point, the fish stopped biting and Tucker fell in the water while he was climbing on the rocks. We didn’t have extra shoes with, so I gave him a pair of gloves to wear and he got right back to fishing.
After we left, I realized that I could have just given him Jackson’s shoes since Jackson was sleeping anyway……I’m a bright one.
Here’s Dale with all the fish we caught.
And a couple more of Tucker with another fish that he caught.
Seth and Dale cleaned the fish when we got home and we packed them in bags of water to freeze. We’ve cooked two of the fish so far and they were pretty tasty.
I caught a fish that matched my coat so I made Seth take a picture.
When the fish stopped biting for a while, I decided to walk across the rocks on the shore to try another spot. As I was walking, I lost my balance on a rock, tipped headfirst into the water, screamed the f-word, and landed on my thumb.
It was fractured so I got to wear an extremely uncomfortable splint/brace thing. It should have stayed on for at least four weeks, but I just couldn’t stand it, so I tried to keep my thumb straight and threw the brace away.
Good story, Anna….
