I prefer that the boys have longish hair, especially because I love Jackson’s curls so, so much, but I knew it was time to chop those beautiful locks when Jackson came home from school saying that he hates his hair because it makes him look different than everyone else.
I got back from a work trip on Friday early enough to spend the afternoon with Jackson at school and sure enough, every other little boy had a buzz cut except for him (he’s still the cutest kid in his class though. Biased? I think not).
Then Tucker came home from school with a big chunk of hair missing in the front. It had been getting in his eyes so he used his scissors and cut the offending piece off.
I knew something had to be done, but what? Yes, buzz cuts are so, so soooooooooooo ugly and yet so, so, soooooooo convenient. Some little boys look good with a buzz – not mine. Besides, my clipper skills are so horrendous that I can even manage to mess up a buzz cut.
What’s a mother to do?
Take the boys to Great Clips for butt cuts, that’s what!
All three of them!
Just kidding, but admit it, that would have been pretty hilarious.
If it’s possible, they look even more adorable with short hair.
Ruger was feeling a little left out with all of the hair cutting and the tuft of hair on top of his head was completely out of control. It couldn’t decide if it should hang over one eye, waft out behind him, or stick straight up in the air, so out came the clippers and I gave it my best shot.
One ear looks longer than the other and there may or may not be a few (many) bald patches on his back and sides, but he looks more like a Gordon again rather than a grizzly bear.
As you can see by the look on his face, Ruger’s slightly traumatized and more than a little put off that he didn’t get an aromatherapy hot towel wrap with his clip like he does at the groomer, but I’m just glad that I didn’t completely scalp the poor guy.
Grandma Asche thinks they are all darling!
