Race Pace

My run yesterday was supposed to be a total of 4 miles with the last two at my goal race pace. I didn’t realize until I was heading out on my run that I really have no idea what my goal race pace should be, but figured anything under 9 min/mile would be acceptable. Mile 4 ended up being a little slower than mile 3. There was a point where I had to leave the street and run on the sidewalk in an older section of town and I think navigating the broken, heaving sidewalk slowed me down a little. I tried to keep my pace up as much as possible without falling flat on my face though.
